Architecture & Contributing

Every contribution to WDI Method answers one question: does this make the review layer more trustworthy, or does it only make it thicker?

Open an Issue First

Before you write code, open an issue describing what you want to change and why. If the change adds a skill, restructures a guide, or touches more than a couple of files, wait for a maintainer to weigh in before you invest the time.

The Public Generic Package Rule

WDI Method is published to the public npm registry as wdi-method, under the MIT License. It must never carry private client names, commercial product identities, credentials, or absolute filesystem paths.

Fixture Corpus & Local Verification

Validator and method changes are proven against the fixture corpus (tests/fixture/). Run the suite before opening a pull request:

npm test

The suite covers:

  • Four Python PEP 723 scripts: validate.py, timeline.py, inventory.py, and lifecycle.py, run against the fixture.
  • The platform registry: the supported platforms and the files each one receives.
  • Kit integrity: the files the installer ships.

Contribution Workflow

  1. Open an issue: say what you want to change and why, and wait for a maintainer when the change is large.
  2. Fork & branch: fork the repository on GitHub and create a feature branch from main.
  3. Test first: for a new guardrail or validator, add a failing fixture case to tests/fixture/ first, see it fail, then make the suite green.
  4. Update the documentation: reflect the change in README.md and its nine translations in translations/ (including translations/README.zh-CN.md).
  5. Open a pull request: state the problem and the evidence.

License & Trademark Notice

Code License: The software, validators, and skills are distributed under the MIT License.

Trademark Notice: "Wira Delta Indonesia", "WDI Method", and the studio brand monogram are trademarks of Wira Delta Indonesia and are retained separately from the open-source software license.

The Name and the Icon

The MIT License grants broad rights over the code. It says nothing about names or logos, and it does not oblige the studio to hand over either, so the license above covers this repository's code, not the name WDI Method, not Wira Delta Indonesia, and not any associated visual marks or logos.

You may use those names to refer to this project: "based on WDI Method", "a fork of WDI Method", or "compatible with WDI Method". You may not use them as the name of your own product or methodology, or in a way that suggests you are this project or endorsed by it.

If you publish a modified distribution or fork, please give it your own name, so the engineers using it know whom to ask when something behaves unexpectedly. The code is yours to take; the name is not.
