Wira Desk 0.3.0: Window Switcher, Mouse Buttons, and Update Checks

The first release since 0.2.0. It adds a window switcher you can see, lets the side buttons of your mouse move between desktops, and tells Wira Desk when a newer version exists.

A Window Switcher You Can See

Cycling between windows of the same app now shows an overlay with a live tile for each window, so you pick the one you want instead of counting presses. Keep cycling forward, hold Shift to go back, or click a tile with the mouse.

The overlay reads window titles to label the tiles. If you would rather it did not, turn off "Enable Visual Switcher Overlay" in Settings, on the General tab.

Desktops From Your Mouse Buttons

The back and forward buttons on the side of a mouse, and the left and right tilt of the wheel, can now switch virtual desktops, snap windows, and apply arrangement presets. It reads the standard Windows mouse messages, so it works with any mouse that sends them, with no driver from the mouse maker.

Turn it off in Settings, on the Mouse tab, with "Enable Mouse Navigation".

Snap Sizes Per Edge

Snapping to an edge with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Arrow now uses 67% of the screen by default on the left, right, and bottom edges, and 33% on the top edge. Each edge keeps its own number, and every settings pane has a Defaults button that appears only when something differs from the defaults.

Update Check

Once a day, and when you press Check for updates, Wira Desk asks wiradelta.com whether a newer version exists. The request names Wira Desk, its version, your Windows version, and the processor architecture. Nothing else is attached. There is still no account, no analytics, and no crash reporting.

To turn it off, go to Settings, the About tab, and turn off "Check for updates automatically". The privacy policy sets out what the request carries and how long our server keeps it.

Downloads

Each release now comes as an installer and as a portable zip holding both executables, the license, and the notices, with a SHA256SUMS file to check them against. Get them from the Wira Desk page.
